Day 24: Love as a Commitment

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:7 - "It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

Reflection: Love is more than a feeling; it’s a steadfast commitment.

Application: Show your commitment to someone today by being there for them, especially when it’s difficult.

Prayer: Lord, help me to love with a steadfast commitment, reflecting Your unwavering love. Amen.

Now, let's chew on this: love as a commitment. We live in a world that often treats love like a feeling—as long as the butterflies are fluttering, we’re in love, right? But what happens when the butterflies calm down? That’s where commitment comes in. It’s the glue that holds relationships together when the going gets tough.

Christ’s love for the church is the gold standard here. It wasn’t based on feelings that could change with the wind. It was based on a steadfast, unwavering commitment. He loved us with an everlasting love—a love that doesn’t quit, a love that doesn’t give up. So, in our relationships, whether it’s marriage, friendship, or family, commitment means being there, being solid, being reliable, especially when it’s not convenient. It means loving people even on their worst days, even when they're not very lovable. Because let’s be honest, sometimes we’re that unlovable person, and aren’t we all grateful for the people who stick with us through thick and thin?
